 German Wind Lobby Reports Increase in Onshore Wind Capacity, Still Falls Short of Targets 

 

Germany's onshore wind capacity has experienced a rise, according to the wind lobby, but it still remains far from the targets set for 2022. The lobby group, Bundesverband WindEnergie, reported an increase of 5.1 GW in onshore wind capacity for the year 2021. This brings the total onshore wind capacity in Germany to approximately 62 GW. However, the country is still far from reaching its goal of having 95 GW of onshore wind by the end of 2022.

 

The German government has been facing criticism for its slow progress in expanding its renewable energy sector. Wind energy plays a crucial role in the country's energy transition plans, but bureaucratic hurdles and resistance from local communities have hindered its growth. An improved regulatory framework and support for wind projects are essential to accelerate the expansion of onshore wind capacity and meet the targets set for the coming years.

 

 

The increase in Germany's onshore wind capacity is a positive sign, but it is disappointing that the country is still far from achieving its targets.
