India Selects 11 Companies to Manufacture Solar PV Modules by 2023
India has chosen 11 domestic and international companies to manufacture solar PV modules under its Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme by 2023. This move is aimed at reducing the country's dependency on solar imports and boosting local manufacturing of solar panels.
The selected companies include Adani Solar, Waaree Energies, Tata Power Solar, and Vikram Solar, among others. These companies will be responsible for setting up a total of 10,000 megawatts (MW) of integrated solar PV manufacturing plants across the country. This initiative is expected to attract around ₹170 billion ($2.3 billion) of investment and create job opportunities for approximately 30,000 people.
